this song is not about suicide. it's about drug addiction. don't think it's about suicide because of the video for it. in the video, he jumped off the top of that building because he was tweaked. duh.

Mike did write this song but it didn't take him 6 years. He simply wanted to write a song on the subject of breaking a habit for 6 years but never really got around to it. It actually took him a couple of days to write the lyrics to the song after completing the instrumental version of 'Breaking The Habit' He said everything fell into place after hearing the instrumental version and was able to write what he had struggled to do for 6 years.

Don't fight about what this fucking great song is about, just enjoy it, cause that's all they want us to do. I love it, it means a lot to me.

I can't believe so many people fail to see this song's meaning. Its so straightforward! Even theme of this song screams "suicide" Does any1 see how pessimistic theme of this song is? You would think if you ever were to break a habbit you'd need to be at least optimistic. Check the lyrics on my next post.

Since I am limited on space I will break my argument down to several posts. Pay attention to the following lines: I'll never fight again And this is how it ends I don't know what's worth fighting for Or why I have to scream But now I have some clarity To show you what I mean

Take a look at this line: "I don't know what's worth fighting for" why would he try end drug addiction (as some of you claim) if he clearly has given up on fighting this particular habbit? Then,"...I have some clarity to show you what I mean" If you took advanced psych classes you would know that this a frequent mind set of some1 who is about to kill himself. Making this song to be more likely about suicide than anything else.

It isn't even about Chester. Mike wrote the lyrics, not Chester, he just sings it. To be honest i think the song is about various things including suicide, drug addiction and self harm as all are shown in the video

Your all missing the damn point!! 1: Great song and Band. 2: This song isnt about ANYONE its for all of us to relate to! Drug addiction!? sure! Suicide!? Sure! its for us to relate to! and chester relates to it extremely well which is why he sings the particular song. Mike knows that chester is better because mike cannot relate as much as chester.
